Choose the working area first
The most useful board is the one that fits the meal and the kitchen. A longer shape gives ingredients room to wait beside your preparation; a smaller board is easier to lift, wash and put away. Look closely at the stated dimensions, including any handle, before choosing by appearance. Pair a board listed for chopping with everyday cooking utensils and give each piece a regular place near the worktop.
