Kitchen Cleaning Essentials

Small changes to the daily washing-up.

Keep the sink-side essentials simple. Our cellulose pop-up sponges arrive flat and expand in water, while coconut-fibre scourers bring a different texture for scrubbing. Choose the tool for the task, check it suits the surface, and make space for a pair of useful materials in the daily cleaning routine.

Notes from the Kitchen Table

Keep the Sink-Side Kit Small

A useful cleaning drawer does not need a different object for every plate. Start with a sponge for the wiping jobs and a scourer where a firmer texture is appropriate. The pop-up sponges store flat until needed, while the coconut-fibre pads bring a separate scrubbing surface. Keep the product details to hand, particularly for coated cookware, and let the material and the task decide what you reach for.

Notes from the Kitchen Table

Give the Routine a Clear Finish

Leave room beside the sink for used cleaning tools to dry, rather than dropping everything into a damp pile. Keep a fresh linen tea towel nearby for the next stage of the washing-up and put clean utensils back where you can find them. A small, organised kit is easier to keep using than a crowded collection of half-forgotten products at the back of the cupboard.

The Byard’s choosing guide

Choose the Right Tool for the Sink

Wiping a worktop and scrubbing a pan are different jobs. Choose the texture that suits the task, check the material details and follow the care guidance for both the cleaning tool and the surface beneath it.

How do pop-up sponges work?

They are compressed cellulose sponges supplied flat. Soak one in water and allow it to expand fully before using it. The current pack contains eight sponges, so the unused ones take up little drawer space. Rinse the sponge after cleaning and leave it to dry as directed.

Are the coconut scourers latex-free?

No. The listed material is coconut husk fibre blended with natural latex. Check the material information before choosing, particularly if you need a latex-free cleaning product. The separate pop-up sponges are described as cellulose; review their current product details when comparing the two options.

Can I use the scourers on any pan or worktop?

Check the care instructions for the pan or worktop first, especially where there is a delicate, polished or non-stick finish. A general cleaning description is not a guarantee for every surface. Choose a compatible tool and test a small inconspicuous area where the surface instructions allow it.
