The Living Edit / Notes

Make the habit effortless

A key holder earns its place when putting keys away is easier than leaving them on the nearest surface. Position it along your usual route through the house and give each regular set its own hook. There is no need to turn it into a larger display or store every spare key there. Keep the arrangement simple enough to use one-handed, when you are carrying shopping or getting ready to leave.

The Living Edit / Notes

Small keys, separate from everything else

A tangle of coats and bags is not the best place to look for a small key ring. Keep key storage visually separate from heavier hanging items, even when both occupy the same stretch of wall. Check the width of the holder, the length of the keys and the clearance between neighbouring fixtures. Pair with coat hooks when you need a complete arrival point, without asking one small fitting to do every job.

The Byard’s choosing guide

A small fixture worth planning properly

The right key holder is more than a hook count. Check how each key ring hangs, where the wall fixing sits and whether everyone can reach the chosen position without keys getting tangled behind other everyday belongings.

How many hooks should a key holder have?

Count the separate sets used regularly, including any that need to be collected independently. Leave a spare position if your household often has visitors or additional keys. A few clearly assigned hooks are easier to use than several rings layered together on the same one.

Where should a wall-mounted key holder go?

Choose a convenient indoor position that is not visible or readily reachable from outside. Check clearance for the longest key ring and keep it separate from hanging coats. The best height is one the intended users can comfortably reach, with fixings appropriate to the wall and product.

Can I use a key holder for bags as well?

Only if the product is explicitly suitable for that load and has been correctly fitted. Key hooks and their fixings are not automatically appropriate for heavier bags. Keep the key holder for its intended use and choose separate coat or bag hooks with suitable stated guidance.
