Coat Hooks for Hallways & Everyday Storage

Off the chair. Onto the wall.

A good hook gives the coat, scarf or bag a destination before it reaches the nearest chair. Explore wall-mounted coat hooks for entrances and utility spaces, and choose an arrangement around the people who use it. Allow room for winter sleeves, long straps and the daily comings and goings.

The Living Edit / Notes

Think in coats, not empty hooks

Before fitting a row of hooks, imagine it full. A wool coat needs more width than a summer jacket; a long bag strap may reach lower than expected. Allow space between garments and keep the door's movement clear. A smaller arrangement that stays usable is more helpful than a long row that becomes a bundle. Assign places to the household's regular items and let the rest live away from the entrance.

The Living Edit / Notes

One wall, several useful jobs

Wall storage works best when the different jobs are easy to recognise. Coats need hanging room, keys need visibility and smaller loose items need somewhere they cannot fall. Keep these zones close enough to support the same routine without crowding them together. Our storage and organisation collection brings those pieces together, so an entrance can remain useful even when there is no space for a console or freestanding coat stand.

The Byard’s choosing guide

Plan the space around the hook

A row that looks generous when empty can feel crowded once the coats arrive. Measure garments, check door swings and decide which items need to stay near the entrance. Keep occasional coats elsewhere when wall space is limited.

How far apart should coat hooks be?

There is no single spacing that suits every garment or hallway. Lay out the coats or bags you expect to hang and allow enough room to remove one without pulling the others down. Check fixed-rack spacing against your needs before ordering, especially for bulky winter coats.

Can I fit coat hooks to any wall?

The wall construction, product and intended load all matter. Read the fixing instructions and use suitable fixings for the surface; supplied screws are not necessarily suitable for every wall. If you are unsure about installation or what the wall can support, ask a competent installer before fitting.

Can coat hooks be used in a bathroom or outside?

Only where the individual product is stated to be suitable. Humidity, splashes and weather can affect finishes and fixings differently. A hook intended for a dry hallway should not be assumed suitable for wet towels or outdoor exposure simply because its shape would work there.
